Subject Wanted After Vehicle Pursuit with Deputies

The Dunn County Sheriff’s Office is attempting to locate Matthew M. Baier, age 31. Baier fled on foot at the termination of a vehicle pursuit with the Sheriff’s Office in the Irvington area yesterday afternoon, August 30th. Baier is currently wanted on a Department of Corrections felony extraditable apprehension request and is a suspect several burglary and property crimes in Dunn County. He is believed to still be on foot and could be anywhere in the Irvington area to the City of Menomonie. Baier is a white male, has a shaved head, was last seen wearing a red t-shirt, is about 6’ 2” tall and weighs about 195 lbs. He is not believed to be armed but that is known. Body of Missing Woman Recovered in Chippewa River - Town of Rock Creek

Today, August 23, 2017 at about 1:30 p.m. we were able to locate the body of a body of Kathy Schlosser of rural Durand. Her body was located in the Chippewa River about a mile downstream from the CTH H bridge near Caryville in the Town of Rock Creek. Her body was located in about 20 feet of water.

Kathy Schlosser’s family and close friends have been notified and want me to share their gratitude by thanking everyone who helped at this indecent. They are thankful for the closure that locating Kathy’s body will bring to them and those that knew Kathy.

The Dunn County Sheriff’s Office deputies worked with at least a dozen different people who brought their boats to assist, hundreds of volunteers who came to search land near the river. Food, drinks and many other items were dropped off for those helping, and that allowed the volunteers to keep going without leaving for food and drink.

We also want to thank all of the Fire Departments, EMS agencies, Law Enforcement Agencies, search and rescue groups and community volunteer groups who assisted in this effort.

Human Remains Identified as Missing 2006 Man - Town of New Haven

On October 16th, 2016 the Dunn County Sheriff’s Office was notified of the discovery of suspected human remains in the Township of New Haven, Dunn County. Investigators responded and were directed to the remains which were observed to be a human skull located adjacent to clothing and hunting type boots which when examined also contained skeletal remains.

With assistance of the Dunn County Medical Examiner’s Office the remains were excavated and collected as evidence. The remains were transported to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy. The results of the autopsy were unable to determine cause of death and no trauma was observed to the skeletal remains.

The skeletal remains and their location were consistent with the Dunn County missing case of Douglas L. Poach who was reported missing by his family on January 3rd, 2006. Skeletal remains were submitted to the National Missing Persons Program at the University of North Texas for comparison with family member reference samples collected in the Douglas L. Poach case.

The Dunn County Sheriff’s Office has received examination and testing results from the National Missing Persons Program that the genetic data obtained from samples indicated they were 7.9 billion times more likely to have originated from a biological sibling of the biological samples submitted by the Poach family as opposed to the unidentified remains originating from an unrelated individual.

As a result of the information provided by the National Missing Persons Program in combination with the case investigation conducted by the Sheriff’s Office it is confident in concluding that the skeletal remains discovered on October 16th, 2016 are those of Douglas L. Poach.
