On September 12, 2021 about 2:18 PM the Dunn County Emergency Communications Center received a 911 call reporting a death in Town of Sheridan in northern Dunn County. The Sheriff’s Office is investigating a 4 victim homicide. The victims do not appear to have any connection to the area. The victims were found in an abandoned black SUV that was driven into a standing corn field off a rural road in Sheridan township.


Please contact the Dunn County Sheriff’s Office at 715-232-1348 if you have information that might be related to this incident or may have seen a black SUV with Minnesota plates in that area. There may have been a second dark colored SUV traveling with the black SUV that may be related.


As we have learned more throughout our investigation, we do not believe there to be present danger to the public in the area.


The Dunn County Sheriff’s Office is being assisted by the Dunn County Medical Examiner’s Office, the Wisconsin Division of Criminal Investigation, the Wisconsin State Patrol and the Wisconsin DOJ crime lab.


No other information is being released at this time. More details will may released as this investigation develops.

On September 12, 2021 about 2:18PM the Dunn County Emergency Communications Center received a 911 reporting a death in Town of Sheridan in northern Dunn County. The Dunn County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating this suspicious death scene.


The Sheriff’s Office is requesting any information of someone walking in the area or possibly going to residence to ask for a ride early Sunday morning or late Saturday night. Please contact the Dunn County Sheriff’s Office at 715-232-1348 if you have information that might be related to this suspicious incident.


As we are in the initial stages of the investigation we ask that people be vigilant about securing their doors and be aware of their surroundings.


The Dunn County Sheriff’s Office is being assisted by the Dunn County Medical Examiner’s Office, the Wisconsin Division of Criminal investigation and the WI DOJ crime lab.

On Aug 24, 2021 about 11:11 AM the Dunn County Emergency Communications Center received a 911 call from a construction crew working on at a construction site 390th St in Town of Menomonie reporting 2 males were down and had possibly been struck by lightning. One male was reported to be not breathing.


The Dunn County Sheriff’s Office and Menomonie Fire and Rescue responded to the scene. Two male patients were located at the scene. One suffering from suspected serious injuries and the other was not breathing. Immediate medical attention was given to both patients however despite efforts to revive the 60-year-old male, he was pronounced deceased at the scene by The Dunn County Medical Examiner’s office. The other patient a 20-year-old male was transported to Mayo Eau Claire by Menomonie Fire and Rescue with suspected serious injury.


Preliminary investigation shows a crew was working on a pole shed construction. They were working under a partial roof. The two injured employees were on ladders when lighting struck in the area. Both were knocked off their ladders. The crew had stopped working due to weather and when the weather broke they started to work again. Shortly after starting to work again the lighting struck.


This case remains under investigation by the Dunn County Sheriff’s Office and the Dunn County Medical Examiner’s Office.


Names will be released at a later date pending notification of next of Kin.
