The Dunn County Sheriff's Office is concerned about keeping the community informed about the operations of the Sheriff's Office. One of the ways we accomplish this is by regularly keeping the news media, and therefore the public, informed of the events involving the Sheriff's Office and its personnel.

Press releases are generated by field supervisors and contain factual information about an event. Press releases are approved by command staff and then distributed to local news media as soon as possible.

Title
Missing Hunter Reported; Death Investigation

On May 3, 2012 at 11:47 PM the Dunn County E-911 Center received a report of a male subject who could not be located in the Town of Tiffany. Deputies from the Dunn County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to the scene and shortly thereafter other agencies were requseted to assist in the search.

It was reported that 72 year old Clifford William Frederick of West St. Paul had left to go turkey hunting in the Town of Tiffany around 4:00 AM. He was going to be hunting on property belonging to a family member.

Last evening his family had not heard from him and could not make contact with him. They decided to drive to the Town of Tiffany to check on him. When they arrived they could not locate him at a shed and camper that were on the property. They called the dispatch center and requested assistance from the Sheriff's Office.

During the next couple of hours more assistance was called in to assist in the search for Mr. Fredrick. Since he was hunting in a large wooded area, several family members and friends helped several first responder agencies in the search.

This morning at 7:00 AM Mr. Frederick was located deceased in the area where he regularly hunts near the Town of Tiffany and Town of Hay River township line. His body was found under a large tree top that apparently broke off high in the tree and fell directly onto him.

The Dunn County Medical Examiner's Office was called to the scene to complete their investigation and will determine an official cause of death.
